What 10 songs or 1 album should I buy?

Just looking for something I may have or haven't thought of.

Currently listening to things in the vein of Iron Maiden, Metallica, Jaco, Yes, MArk Knopfler, U2. In a bit of a rut.

Thanks.

i recently found this album, wild beasts: two dancers, i think they are a bit in the U2 vein but more interesting IMO.

My latest iTunes buys have been:

10. The Very Best of Otis Redding
9. Respect - The Very Best of Aretha Franklin
8. Lady Soul (Aretha Franklin)
7. Joe Jackson: Greatest Hits
6. Bitches Brew (Miles Davis)
5. To The One (John McLaughlin & the 4th Dimension)
4. White Album (the Beatles)
3. 1962–1966 The Red Album (the Beatles)
2. 1967–1970 The Blue Album (the Beatles)
1. Love's Glove - EP (Mick Karn)

a lot of the purchases have been because of TalkBass threads . . . (Joe Jackson, John McLaughlin & the 4th Dimension, Mick Karn) . . .

and the Beatles just recently became available at the iTunes Store . . . . . .

I'll second mahavishnu. If you don't have it already, get yes' tales album. It is possibly the most devisive rock album. I think it's great but a lot of people hate it. Or talk. That's a great one too.

Or blues for allah by the dead, the brown album by the band, or bob dylan by bob dylan. Should I continue?

How about Black Country Communion? Great bass player and singer ( Glenn Hughes ), and great guitar with Joe Bonamssa, and finally an acceptable recording from Jason Bonham. Really good stuff IMHO!

Regards

I'd second the latest Kylesa album. Pretty rockin' stuff. I would also recommend Baroness, Zoroaster, High On Fire, Opeth, or Shrinebuilder considering what you've listed.

Now if you want to go for something different, I'd say anything by Greg Dulli. Afghan Whigs, Gutter Twins, or Twilight Singers. Great music and I think one of the most under appreciated singer/songwriters out there currently.
