[HELP]Travelling on domestic flights

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, I am planning to buy a Bongo 6
but I am quite worried about taking it on flight with hardcase?
I am a foreigner, and I don't know much about the policy
I will be taking Jetblue for domestic flight
do people always check the exact size of the luggage(especially musical instrument)?
I am afraid of getting penalized, cuz it is too expensive

thz!

I'd do a search on this topic.

I traveled from either Chicago O'Hare or Indianapolis International [i think it was Indy] with my Ray5 in it's hard shell to Miami, FL and back. Just tape the latches. I think we flew on Delta.

How about calling Jet Blue and tell them what you're wanting to do? Specifically ask about the policy about traveling with musical instruments.

You really need to search on this topic. Here are the basics:

- Any gate agent can allow or forbid you to take the bass on the plane. Whatever the airline told you before that doesn't matter. Whatever the gate gent says is final; there is no appeal.
- There is a high probability that you will end up gate-checking the hard case, or being required to take it back and check it as luggage, since it does NOT meet airline requirements for carry on.
- Come prepared to check it. If you get lucky you may possibly be able to carry it on.
