#1 Frontman of all time

I recently read an article in a magazine where Liam Gallagher of Oasis was crowned greatest frontman of all time, I don't really agree (He should be somewhere very high up though).

My favorite frontman has got to be Matt Bellamy of Muse, who is your number #1 Frontman, and what would you say makes a good one?

Axl Rose. He's great when he's onstage. The flip side is that he's a complete and total dick when he does anything other than perform.

Mark McCoy (Charles Bronson, Das Oath, Virgin Mega-Whore, Holy Molar) is and always will be my favorite front man.

Is this a British magazine/poll?

No offense to Oasis fans, but "greatest front man of all time?"

Without even trying, dozens of more flamboyant, iconic, groundbreaking, and important figures come to mind.

Mugger FTW.

Jim "Dandy" Mangram is a close second.

Then Roger Daltrey.

+1 for Matthew Bellamy.
And I'd also like to add Maynard James Keegan.

Okay, that was the first one to pop in my head.

I'll give a tip of the hat to Axl as well.

Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osborne, David Bowie, Robert Plant, Chrissie Hynde, Elton John, Roger Daltrey, Sting, Bono, Kurt Cobain, Mick Jagger...

Man, I could go all day.

And not mention Liam Gallagher once.

I'd go with Duke Ellington or Louis Armstrong.

Haha, I instantly thought of Mercury as well...even though i'm not a really big Queen fan. They are great but...i dunno. Freddie was awesome though.

Right, a lot of the names on my list, I'm not a huge fan of the music. But if they jumped out and grabbed your attention, you gotta give 'em credit.

Even some of the metal guys like Vince Neil and Bruce Dickenson deserve mention here.

But Liam Gallagher? The publication must have been the Oasis Fan Club Monthly Magazine.

My favorite is definitely Tommy Rogers. I love BTBAM for so many reasons. They are great musicians, I love watching them, they are just as good and usually better live than on album, they love their fans, they're really nice, and they know how to fire up a crowd like no other.

Big +1 to this. I had a post typed with most of those names, but then you said what I was going to say, and did it better.

i'll vote David Lee Roth - as I see it "front man" is about the entertainment factor and overall persona as much as it is singing . . .my 2¢

I know he's kind of a clown these days but I've never seen anyone work a crowd like Ozzy. Makes you feel guilty for not screaming till you've lost your voice.

Stephen Tyler of Aerosmith. Probably the most flamboyant, over-the-top & sincere rock star ever.
