Has anyone ever seen the fender case that was also a stand? It was chrome colored and held three and five basses upright in an enclosed stand that was also the case!

I owned a case like this.. was a bear to move.. very cumbersome.

When I want airlines to give me special attention, I tape 2 basses together in hardshell cases.. this is cumbersome enough that it gets hand - moved.

5 was a dog.

I remember seeing in the back of a BP mag, a flight case that would hold three basses stacked upright. And that it would tilt back and roll instead of carrying it.

Hi.

The only "feasible" option for a new one would be DIY if $600 is too much for You.

A second hand KBD case or a mixing console case would be the next logical step, not cheap though. The cheapest/easiest to find might be a standard utility case for stands, lights, cables etc. Those come in all sizes and dimensions, every ATA case manufacturer makes them.

Have You given a single thought to the weight?

A "normal" bass is about 5Kg, a plywood ATA case for a bass 15Kg, a composite ATA perhaps 10Kg. That's at least 20 Kg You'd be hauling around, most likely closer to 30Kg.

Regards
Sam

Yeah, if $600 is too steep for the OP you're SOL. But call up Anvil or Calzone or Hybrid and ask them for a quote, they've all done it before and it's always been a custom case.

And I'm fairly certain it's always been well over $600. My Anvil ATA-series flight case was almost $600 for a single instrument!

i know twin gig bags, no hard cases though. maybe you could get something custom made but then i wont be sure how sturdy it is, thus defeating the purpose of a hardcase

Sorry for the delay on pics. I have a double hard case for 2 electric basses that works well. I have fit 2 35" laklands in it with room to spare. I will post pics tonight.

I have one. It's awesome, but discontinued. Apparently, the company that made them for Fender stole the idea from another company, and were issued a cease and desist .
