10 minute bass instructional demonstration...

hey so, my public speaking class has this instructional - demonstration - presentation to do.

i dont know how to bake a cake, but i do know how to play a bass.

im gana take in my bass and amp and maybe some effects. but my demonstration and speach have to be 10 minutes(ish)

what would you guys talk about? im planning to talk about pick ups, strings, tones, frequencys, tuneings, scales, and the such

and maybe play a tune or two, probably something well known line fur elise or something like that.


what would you guys talk about?

Well pickups are good but don't get too technical. Remember most of these people don't know about the bass. Maybe you can show them the different styles, slap, double tapping, the cool fun stuff.

You might also play and explain some short blues, rock and jazz, and funk lines to show them the difference. Good Luck!

hmmm that does sound like it would be good to talk about but i dont know much scales or modes and stuff like that, but i will definetly go into those cool playing styles though


earthquake demo? lol that would be awesome to do, but sadly im only bringing a 20 watt combo amp with an 8" cone

i know what you're talking about... i had to do one last year... unfortunately for me it had to be entirely in spanish.

definitely show them the styles. i went and showed some honorable bassists and played a lick or to of each just because i could... i had a powerpoint with their pictures on it and stuff... dont know if you could get away with it though.
