12-12-12 telethon

Clapton just went out with a trio and slayed. Every other band has gone out w like a dozen people and then Clapton goes out w a trio and just kills it.

That is Willie Weeks. He has been with Clapton for a long time.

Agreed.

I've never been a big fan, but man, that band was tight and he's playing better than ever.

Check out Donny Hathaway Live! for some killer Willie Weeks. It will make you wanna burn all your gear and cry.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I watched that victor wooten clip on the other thread and I felt sort of like that. Its like all the stuff I've learned is suddenly nothing... But on the other hand, I could evolve into that with work. If I was an alien from the same planet...

There are very few guys that amaze me. I don't really go for all that Flea, Claypool, Wooten, Marcus Miller stuff. Dont get me wrong, those guys are all super accomplished players. But I get amazed by guys like Willie Weeks and George Porter, Jr. Guys like that make what we do look so easy but do it so well that everybody universally agrees after their performance, "man that band was amazing! So tight, so grooving!" Thats what I strive for certainly. I think George is every bit as good but Willie has had much better opportunities and probably is a bit more versatile than George.

I tried.

Roger Daltry's hairless chest is getting more camera time than Pino. I gotta bounce.

Clapton has been by far the best...with a trio. I texted a guitar player/singer I know and said let's get a drummer and do a trio.

He mostly plays his Jaguar basses with the Who for some reason.
