I'm not sure if this is in the right place, but I don't know were else it would go... so either way, I need one of these type stands, and need to fit as many instruments as possible on it. http://accessories.musiciansfriend.c...and?sku=455001
Right now I have one stand with my Explorer on it, then my acoustic bass, acoustic guitar, uke, and Epiphone bass strewn about my room, plus the bass I'm building, and the Jaguar bass I'm saving up for, (only $400 to go!) so yeah, I need a stand. The problem, as usual, is space. I only have 2 1/2 feet to work with. If I have to, I can put it in front of a wall outlet and get 3 feet, which should work just fine, but I'd rather not. Lazy ass Musicians Friend doesn't have the dimensions for any of these stands posted, so does anybody know one that will fit in 2.5-3 feet of space?

I followed the instructions for a compact stand by "scottunder" from this site. Scroll down a bit and you'll see it. I made a 4 guitar stand that roughly measures 16"L x 8.5"W x 27.5"H. I think you could make a 7 guitar stand in under 2.5ft length, but 3ft for sure is enough. |

I make PVC spud guns all the time so I actually have a lot of the materials already.
Thanks.
Just remembered, what kind of foam should I get, and from where?

Reason: the foam!

Thanks. | I used 1" PVC just like the guide said, the only thing I changed was the T-connectors at the top to hold the neck. Instead of using Inner couplers with a cut piece of 1" for flat end, I used end caps. The neck pocket is a little on the small side, its barely bigger than the neck itself. Also, following the instructions I used makes the guitar stand very upright, which is gonna be a problem for your explorer. And is a small annoyance with my Jazz bass. I'll post pics tomorrow.
What I have been thinking about is making a second one, but extending the base width so I can get better resting angle for my Jazz. Something more like the main instructions on the site. And I might use the rotating locks and bottom separators "ishturkish" posted.
Be sure to get sand to weigh the stand down, just removing my Jazz before I put the sand in made the stand move around too much. I disassembled the bottom section into two parts: long tube and end pieces and filled each seperately with sand and sealed off the ends with a extra piece of foam and a hot glue gun.
I'll get pics of all it tomorrow.
EDIT: I used plumbing insulation foam. It's in the plumbing section at home depot, comes in 6ft lengths. It's very similar to the foam on commercial guitar stands. I'm not sure, but I believe this foam is bad for nitro finished guitars. So if you got any, just put a little towel or blanket over where the nitro guitar will go.
