D.O.A. is a three piece I think, Rancid recorded their first record as a three piece if I remember right, Mike Watt's post Minutemen band Firehose, Husker Du, Green Day early at least, hm that's all I can think off the top of my head.

When I was in high school, I was big fan of "The Jam". They had several great songs and the bass player played a Rick!!!!

Face to Face was a three piece for their first album, which is 30 minutes of melodic awesome.

@ Ursus T-- you know your stuff. I think you are the only other person here I've seen mention one of my all-time favorite bands, Killdozer.

Love a lot of other bands on your list, but Killdozer also had such a great sense of humor. AND their frontman was also the bass player.

Indeed you meet so few Killdozer fans!
Killdozer is made of awesome, easily one of my absolute fave bands ever. Been a fan since Burl was released. I actually got to meet them once after a show. It was after they reunited in '93 and were touring for Uncompromising War on Art Under the Dictatorship of the Proletariat. I told Michael Gerald he was my inspiration for playing bass, he looked at me and said "I hope I didnt inspire you to buy that stupid hat" and walked away. Sometime your idols are not what you hope. The new guitarist Paul Zagoras on the other hand talked to me and my friend for 2 hours and fed us falafels and beer!
The dude was cool.
