| The "uninterrupted" part was a major selling point for Classical music lovers. No more getting up & flipping the LP to the 3rd & 4th Movements. Too, they may have been the original target 'cause they would shell out the extra coin for a cd vs. the LP.
At the time, I still bought LPs...I could buy 2 LPs vs, 1 cd.
...now it's turned around. LPs now are $20+ while the cd version can be had for >$10.
My 1st cd? My brother bought it for me Xmas ('84/'85?). Paul McCartney's Give My Regards To Broad Street...I had/have a ton of LPs, he knew there was no way I had that one. I do remember how very clean it sounded.
Ya wanna screw with some Frasier-esque friends?
Put on their favourite Symphony & select "shuffle play"...
