40th Birthday GAS Attack

Sign in to disble this ad
I just realized today that I probably won't be getting anything from anyone for my birthday. Yeah, it's sad and pathetic, but who cares? So I want to buy myself something nice. My first choice would be a 1969 Fender Jazz Bass in sunburst because it would be symbolic of making it this far in life without being arrested or killing someone (yet, I still have a month to go). I'm sure this bass is way out of my price range of $2000, so I'll have to wait until my 50th for that one.

I don't really want any other bass at this point. I'm pretty happy with the ones in my signature. I would like a powerful tube-like amp because although the Markbass CMD121P that I own is pretty sweet and fits a lot of my needs, I want to really feel myself on stage the next time I gig (I welcome sexually oriented responses to that last sentence). So I have the Aguilar 750DB in mind. I've never tried it, but I like what it's all about and the rave reviews. Plus the logo is really cool (sorry, I'm a graphic designer). Not sure about which cab to get, but it will be either the chocolate thunder or white hot covering. I own a VW GTI 2 door hatchback, so I think a 4x10 is out of the question. I play soul, R&B, blues and I don't slap and pop (maybe a pop here and there). Would a 1x15 be enough to rock the house? I'm sure you're going to tell me to go try one out.

What I'd really like for my birthday is a band to jam with, but I know I can't afford to pay musicians.

I'm just bored at work on a slow day and invite any conversation. Sarcastic responses are always welcome.

*Semi-sarcastic response #1: You should buy both of my bicycles(see sig)& get back in shape; 40's nearly 90, right?

*On topic: I am so pleased w/my recently-acquired GK-700RBII that I must reccommend this head to you- this coming from a confirmed tube addict(my other amp is a D-180).
If I were closer I'd try to get my band to rock your B-day; if you're in Northern california Friday night or Saturday afternoon, come see us- I will buy you a drink.

*Edit/semi-sarcastic response #2: Good luck not killing anyone or getting incarcerated before your actual birthday.
