I have a relative who just found out she's having triplets, and she's going to need every bit of money she can to build the nursery. As such, she wants to sell her guitar. She never plays it anymore, and was wondering if I could help her find what it's worth.
It's a dead-mint Sunburst Fender Stratocaster, from '83 or '84, whichever was the first year they started making them in the states again. I told her it's too late of a guitar to catch any sort of vintage boom, but I'd try to find out what it's worth for her. Any ideas? Thanks!

| | | It's worth $5, but since I'm a nice guy and want to help out with the triplets and all, I'll offer double that amount. You can ship it to my home address this week.
( Just joking, in case it's not obvious ) |

If it is one of the first MIA's after production went to Japan, she ought to get a pretty good bump when the price jumps. I hope she can find a way to wait. But financial reality is what it is. If she has to sell it, buy it as an investment yourself. edit :Wait. '83 or '84? That should have already jumped up, but I still see them going for about $600?????

That way, if things settle down with the babies, and she gets sellers remorse, I can sell it back to her, and if not, I can keep it as an investment peice myself. She said she remembers it being the first year they returned to the states. Does anyone know if these are nice at all, or not?

You can dress them up and take them anywhere. I think the important thing is that it's MIA, I don't know of anything special about the first year back, but I may have missed something.
