80s Synth Medley (3 guys, 6 keyboards)

Need I say more? Let me rephrase that title, with the youtube link:

80s Synth Medley (3 guys, 6 keyboards)

Ok, I will say that I find this dorky and awesome in equal measure. Nerdcore represent!

As an aside, eighties pop was all about the keyboards, wasn't it?

Nothing against synthy 80s cheese (I grew up on such sample-happy electropop fare as Kraftwerk and Information Society, and somehow still think it's pretty good music), but I sometimes wonder:

What did bassists do all decade when the mainstream musical fashion was either all-synth basslines or glitzy guitar-heavy rock with the bass so drown out it might as well not be there? (or both)

Did everyone just take a long vacation in the late 70s only to come back in the early 90s?

I went punk. DKs, Clash, Ramones- then RHCP & Primus. I did have an analog monosynth back in the day(as well as a small collection now), so I'm a bit of a traitor/hypocrite.

Edit: Listened- neat concept, not impressed w/the execution. I think I could get closer to the original sounds, given the same tools. The A-ha sounded pretty good(if that's possible ).

Heh. Cool. Yeah, I guess some genres never did stray too far from the basics (or bassics ), so there were some safe refuges from the deluge of computer sounds. Punk wouldn't follow every silly fashionable trend, now would it?

Well, I meant "awesome" as in "man, that's the kind of silly, fun musical project I would love to be doing at those kid's ages", not as in "look out, Jean-Michel Jarre, those guys are the new generation of super professionals". You know, modest expectations, not taking things too seriously, and all that.
