But i agree that the first scratch is always the worst, thats why...
I buy used basses  My main bass (Godin) came with a ding in the back and a tiny crack at the neck joint, therefore i dont care when i damage it.. Its gotten quite a bit worse in the 8 months ive owned it so far , heh. Im curious as to where some of it comes from, tehre is one area on it that has abrasion marks, scratches etc for about 2-3 inches..and i dont remember doing it?

I threw my remote at my bass a year ago, chipped the paint off, piece of wood showing through
