About Bass Tone / Parts

Hey,

I was wondering, if you had a bass that you thought sounds oK, but you wanted to beef it up a little, like make it bassier/deeper/fatter sounding

which of these do you think would have the most impact on the sound?

substituting the body for a mahogany 1-piece,
replacing the pickup
replacing the preamp
getting an eq pedal

none of the above? (what then?)

Thanks.

How 'bout the least expensive thing?
...try different strings?
(i.e. heavier gauge, flatwounds, etc)

Or if you using a passive bass & insist on trying/buying a piece of equipment-
An outboard EQ box(Sadowsky or Aguilar) will add a lotta punch + bass.

I would love to get my hands on a sadowsky preamp, but they dont seem to pop up too often in the 2nd hand market...
