Acoustic Guitar pickup question

I got my buddy an inexpensive pop-in pickup for his acoustic...here's my question: is there anyway to get rid of the terrible buzzing when the tone is rolled on? is it a grounding issue or is it a poorly shielded pickup?

Yep, sounds like bad shielding or a short in the pickup. I have a Dean Markley pop-in for mine that doesn't buzz at all.
