Adhering Stickers to Case

A while back, I got a nice Gator hard-shell case and decided to adorn it with various stickers. The problem is, the shell of the case is that bumpy sort of plastic, so stickers don't really stick well to it. I put some super glue on the backs of the stickers and gave that a shot. It seems to have worked well for the most part, but they still peel a little bit on the edges.

Is there a better way of sticking them on there? I was even thinking of just getting some kind of clear epoxy and coating the front of them with that.

When in doubt, Duct Tape will take care of anything.

By the way, Duck Tape Brand Duct Tape now comes in many colors and printed designs.

I have found this to work well.

First scuff the area you want to put the decal on with some white or pink scotchbrite pad or fine steel wool.
Then clean the area with rubbing alcohol and let it dry toughly.
Take a hair drier and warm the area up. Don't get it to hot, just warm.
Apply decal and rub toughly to bond.

I stickered up a Fender case that had that same texture and had the same problem with stickers not sticking. I'm a graphic artist, so had a can of spray adhesive "laying around" (for mounting/displaying projects)... Works pretty good.

I had no problems getting stickers on my case. Even after the empty case sat in my truck for a week nothing started coming off.

I haven't stickered any of my hardshell cases... I'm curious as to what you guys are even putting on them.

All of my hard cases are stashed away.
I use gig bags to transport my basses.

I put all kinds of stickers on my old hard shell case for my Alembic. Some stay on, some fall off. C'est la vie.

Spray adhesive worked for me, too.

I have always used my hair dryer to heat the sticker real well once it is on the case, has worked well for everything I have tried it on.

Ok, I have the opposite. I have an old SKB that is a really nice Jazz case and works well for a P Bass too. I decided to adorn it with stickers, some are still OK (Aerosmith, Fender etc.), some I worry might offend some more sensitive people (Tool) and some I am personally offended I used (Nickelback).

What is the best way to remove old unwanted stickers from a case?

You put a Nickelback sticker on your Fender case??

I would say, take a whole can of lighter fluid and pour it on the case, stand back and throw a match on it.

or get some Goo-Gone.

Get the sticker off as best as you can, then hit it with some Goo Gone. Works like a charm, this stuff is pretty amazing. Works great for velcro leftovers on pedals too. I always have a bottle around.

Goo Gone is great stuff. If that does not work, you can always cut it out with a rug cutter.

For textured surfaces, a gooey type of adhesive is best - like a clear silicone or even good ol' rubber cement. AND- they can be removed later.
