| | | Last I saw him he was playing his Parker Fly- He really needs a hair cut. His new look just is not cutting it to me. Brilliant guitar work as always. |

but Belew has something.. he has real groove with his instrument, regardless of whether you like his tone .. his style of just awesome.
he is the only guy in Crimson who actually has funk on stage.. except maybe Levin when he's with them

| | | | I have witnessed a large part of Belew's career.
I first saw him with his band Da Da in Cleveland. It was at the agora and he was opening for someone, who I fail to remember.
Next I saw him with Zappa several times, Steve Vai on guitar, Bozio on drums, then with David Bowie. I missed him with the Talking Heads stint though.
After that it was King Crimson a couple of times, then with The Bears most recently.
He always has been stellar and has never disappointed. |

He didn't play in the same era as Vai with FZ.
He played late '70 with Frank , Vai was more top '80.....

Right. I saw Belew with Zappa in October 1977, right about the time Steve Vai was a senior in some Long Island high school. By the time Belew had moved on to Bowie's band (1979) Vai was still a student at Berklee College in Boston. |

he just has that effect on me.. not too sure about other people
