As with any list, there are a few obvious omissions such as Pat Travers, Frank Marino, Ian Crichton, Jesse Cook, and Jerry Doucette just to name a few.

I don't know. I may get flamed on a bass board, but I'm not much of a Rush fan. He certainly is capable, but has to be better Canadian guitarists.

Well deserved. Lifeson can really play and is part of the biggest rock band to ever come out of Canada which certainly helps solidify his position as being #1.

I would throw Ian Thornley of Big Wreck and Gordy Johnson of Big Sugar as honorable mentions at the very least. Both of these guys are monster players.

'Bout time he got due recognition. People always talk about Rush like they don't have a guitarist (Alex who?), but the guy is truly badass and holds his own.

YYZ isn't just played on bass and drums, ya know.

Personally, I'd have Piggy from Voivod top of the pile. The guy was amazing.

These type of lists tend to amount to "most popular" rather than 'best'.
