Am I crazy?

I have named my bass, know it's exact 'birth date'(day I bought it) and celebrate that day. My band mates think I am. On the other hand, I named my bass after a hot girl, so yeah? Crazy?

I've titled my bass, and remember the day I got it, and I don't think it's overly odd; my classical music friend does alot more.

what do you do to celebrate? is it your only instrument?

Well I first of all buy brand new strings, the best possible. Jessica is my only bass, so I guess that is why I hold her to such high esteem. I also make sure I have band practice that day and play the best possible.

Live and be well. Name your bass, not name your bass.

I don't. That's me. Whatever works for ya is good.

If you have to ask, then yes you are crazy.

I have never named a bass and never will. My MIA Fender Jazz is my Jazz bass. My MIA Precision is my Precision. My Alembic Epic 4 string is my Alembic 4 string. My Alembic Epic 5 string is my 5 string and so on.

For the record, I also can't stand "pet names" for people you are in a relationship with. I call my wife by her first name and nothing else. (Not honey, not sweetheart, etc.)

All three of my basses have names. I call them "The Alembic", "The Bongo", and "The Yamaha".

I have an SX fretless jazz named Freddy and a Gibson Les Paul named John. Freddy was named by a friend and the name just wouldn't go away. John is so named because anytime I put a band's sticker on its case, the band breaks up, so the case is named Yoko. Obviously the bass is named John because, you get the picture.
