I don't like KISS.

Scratch that. I can't freaking STAND KISS. I understand why some people like them, and I applaud their incredible business skills, but I wouldn't even consider paying for their music.

Opinions?

They have a couple good tunes that I'm happy to look up on youTube once in a blue moon.

Oh right. Saying things that I want to say, before I say it. I see how it is.

I think you had to be experiencing teen-age angst in the 70's to get them. I still like their older songs. Their newer stuff is flamming turds. There are the living example of the saying 'it's better to burn out than fade away". But they are one of those bands people either love or they hate, no middle ground.

honistly im not a fan of bands where the fan base is that die hard (with the exception of the misfits. it makes me want to hate them plus has anyone seen the program the bbc ran couple years ago called "im in a rock and roll band" well everything that gene simmons said was self engrandent crap

for example he was talking about not using drugs or drinking. so ill compere him to ian mackaye of fugazi

gene said "we treat our bodys the same way a olympic athlete would"
where as ian would say somthing like "its not my thing. if people are into it then well and good"

plenty of olympic athletes have taken drugs, so it's not a good analogy by him.

You don't like Kiss? Big deal. That should be the end of it.

Do they actually play instruments? I thought it was a novelty act like the Monkeys from the 60s!! Bet they made a ton of money dressing like clowns and appealing to the younger generation. To me their entertainers first and musicians second, just listened to some cuts on the u-tube and I can see were the kids could enjoy them. Their loud and physical and assume the roles of jesters in a carnival. Hey whatever rings your bell, the older generation hated Elvis when he came along too. Its RnR I guess and any and everything goes! Doc

I don't really like Kiss either, but they have written a few good tunes, and I know there are far worse bands than Kiss...

You're not alone. I absolutely loath KISS. Their lyrics are frequently repetitive and stupid. None of those guys sing well.

"I wanna rock and roll all niiiiggghhhhtttt...& party every day" (repeat 60 times)

They have done well to market the whole glam hard rock party persona, whichappeals to some demographics, and put on a live show that focuses on the visual theatrical performance as much as the music.

You're going to hate them even more when Gene comes knocking on your door for the royalties 'cause you said the 'K' word twice. You now owe him $30.

No offense but I don't really understand going out of your way to start a thread saying how much you don't like any act.

There was a period back in the 70s when Destroyer was my favorite album. I don't go out of my way to listen to Kiss anymore but if I hear Detroit Rock City it makes me smile.
