| | | I did see it, and I was impressed. "Derek", especially, had some great funk for an old white guy, and I didn't hear a note played wrong (and it did appear to be live, unless they're also synching string noise, etc.)
Quite a "side project" for those guys. And I hate each and every one of their multi-talented, funny, overachieving, successful butts! |

I was expecting to be entertained, but not impressed, I was both instead.
They really CAN play their instruments (well, they did have Steve Morse, who's a local to Orlando - Ocala is his home, just over an hour away - come in and "pinch hit" on a few tunes).

That's just about perfect! And, the drummer didn't explode or die... bonus |

And yes, the three of them have been good musicians going back to the days of the movie. Folks thought otherwise because, well, it wouldn't be fair to be that funny AND be able to play well, right? The songs they wrote for that flick were gems, I thought. Perfectly captured the eras, worked well musically and had hilarious lyrics.

Not only could they play, the sound at the show was some of the best I've ever heard. Of course the drummer and keyboard players were ringers; really really good session guys, but that takes nothing away from Shearer, McKean and Guest.
They were sporting some nice gear on TDS, yes? Lakland, PRS singlecut, EBMM Axis, Marshalls and (?) Mesa.
