Am I right or what?

I started a band with my friend Dan (guitarist) about 3 years ago. We usually just jammed during the summer with various friends that were drummers (sucky ones, I may add). From the beginning, our name has always been MOLA. Don't know why, but I've always thought it was a really good name.

Anyway...

Now we're in high school, have a sweet drummer, and are starting to get a few gigs here and there (house parties, school events, etc.) and, all of a sudden, Dan says he hates the name MOLA and wants to change it. He says it makes us sound industrial (?). I still think that it is a sweet name.

Now, Dan is my friend so I'm not just going to brush it off and tell him that he can quit if he doesn't like the name, or something to that effect, but I want to convince him that people like the name.

So, what do you think? MOLA - yea or nay?

EDIT: forgot poll. dammit. Mods?

well, it's google friendly. I'm not sure what the conotation is on the name though. It's kinda of wierd to say, and is like a cross between new orleans, and moolah.

I'm not going to say which way I voted.

It's pronounced moe-lah , not mah-lah.

As in money? Moo-la?
I think the name of a band is pretty irrellevent (sp).
If someone doesnt like it now they probably never will so what do you value more? The band or his input? That might be what it comes down to in the end.

It looks like it's supposed to be an acronym for something, especially since you spell it in upper-case. If it's not, it's a little bit odd. You're going to constantly be asked "What does MOLA stand for?"

It also reminds me of "molé", the Mexican sauce. Now I'm hungry.

Who is that in you avatar, first off...?

MOLA isn't that great, IMO. But then again, I was always terrible at band names.

i concur...unless the name has some sentimental value to you--i don't know what MOLA is, outside of four randomly chosen letters--then keep it...but otherwise i don't think a change would be that bad

MOLA? What the heck is MOLA? Is it an acronym for something? Seems kinda weird to me. Yep, Dan is right.

I kinda disagree with this one. If ur jazz band u dont want to be named "Blood of The Fallen Heroes" (just came up with that lol)

It's not a name that would make me want to go see the band especially.
