The Amen Break...

Amazing history on this sample..

http://www.xampled.com/blog/sampled-...-the-winstons/

I admit, I have heard this drum break a million different times in countless variations, and I never once gave a thought to where the drums actually came from. It's interesting to hear the narrator of this video talk about who the artist was who actually made the original recording called "Amen Brother," the history of sampling and the effect thats it's had on the music industry, corporate America and society at large.

I thought the subject of this thread was going to be a little different. Our band's first set is usually 2 to 2-1/2 hours, so when the bandleader says, "We're going to take a short break", we say, "Amen!"

That video has been around a while... cool video / history.

I've got a copy of the original track... cool stuff as well.

I still wonder where that "wow! ... jet! ... wow! ... jet!" thing comes from, although I haven't heard it much since In Living Color was still in existence.
