American Music Awards

Is anyone watching this drivel? It's more about dancing than music. In fact, I've hardly seen a musical instrument yet. A sad state of affairs indeed - I feel sorry for kids today if these wankers are the pinnacle of popular music.

Rock & Roll R.I.P.

I always DVR and look for good stuff (usually a couple of minutes) via fast forward.

this time i completely agree with you:D

The American Music Awards' sole function, near as I can tell, is to make the Grammys look legitimate by comparison.:rollno:

S.S.D.D. I swear it's the same bunch of acts over and over and over...

The American Music Awards? They're freaking awesome! This the pinnacle of contemporary talent and musicianship! We should thank these people for sharing with us their amazingness. Get with it guys gah!:bassist:

But don't forget to thank God. I'm sure the Creator is deeply concerned with who wins a pointy statue.

I said to my wife tonight during the number with the telephone booths. "Boy looks like the 60's with all of those mini skirts. Too bad the collective talent of the whole show doesn't equal that of Ringo Starr" Then I went out and got a coffee and started to practice my bass to assure me that music still exists

You must be into pain. You knew what you were going to get when you tuned in.

That is a great statement and observation.

I had no desire to watch the AMAs. I watched the Steelers and Ravens Football game and then The Walking Dead. Much more entertaining.

Yeah, that's true enough. I should have burned myself with cigarettes instead; it would have been much less painful.

Ahem.

Kid Rock on GMA was a good reminder there are still great bands workin' in America. Bass player was using an Ashdown. Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber need to listen to Kid Rock to see how it should be done!

It is for these reasons that I never watch award shows.

I heard later that Liinkin Park beat the Black Keys for "Best Alternative Band". Leaving aside the lameness of the category and the awkward fit of these two bands within it, I had to laugh that that emo+bad rap band is still around and that people would vote for them over the Black Keys.

MarkMgibson 11-20-2012 10:12 AM

Yeah, Linkin Park performed as well. Seriously lame. You're not wrong about some of these categories, especially the Soul/R&B awards: Usher, Beyonce and Rihanna. Not exactly my idea of Rhythm & Blues (except I have no idea who Rihanna is).

Smokin' Toaster 11-20-2012 10:16 AM

Kid Rock = great band?!?!? Surely you meant to type GRATE, not great, because they do grate on my eardrums for the few seconds until I can reach the remote or off button. I'd rather hear someone drag a metal rake across concrete.

EDIT - Oh WAIT!! The bass player was using an Ashdown? Forget what I said, that's a great band!! :rollno:
