American Squier?

I just read an e-mail from the Fender mailing list with a link to an Ebay sale where a guy is selling what he calls an American made Squier, it even has a pic of the headstock, and that's what It says, "Squier Stratocaster, made in USA" I have never heard of a a US made Squier, is this legit?

It seems that there was a run of U.S. made Squier branded guitars made between
89-90. It was a very short lived production run.

I can't confirm if that particular Strat is legit, but yes, Squiers had once been made in the ole U.S. of A.
