Amp Cart

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello! I have a birthday cart coming up, and I'm thinking the only thing I really would want is a cart to carry my amp. Now, I have a GK MB115, but I live on a college campus. I know that I would use my amp A LOT more around campus if it were easy to move.

I know, I know, the amp only weighs 35 lbs., and I'm going to be 20 years old, so I have no right to complain. However, I did carry this amp across campus once, ended up in the ER with severe shoulder pain, and will not be doing that again.

That being said, I would like to keep the cost pretty low. One cart I'm looking at pretty much exclusively is the Magna Cart Ideal. It's foldable, small, lightweight, and $30. The question I have about it is in regard to the platform: it's dimensions are 11"x14". The dimensions of the base of the amp are 19.5"x14.75". Will this be a problem? Too much overhang? Thoughts are appreciated.

Just wondering what you guys use to "cart" your amps around. Thanks!

Thanks, but no thanks. My school has a gym. An amplifier, no matter how light or how heavy, will be difficult to schlep around when the only handle is the flimsy factory handle on top of the cabinet, in the worst possible location. Installing handles on the side would require physical modification to the cabinet.

Thanks for the "laughs", but I'm looking for serious suggestions.

Who said you need to use the handles? Just bear hug the whole thing...

Anyways, I've got nothing for you. I would just go to a local hardware store and see what they have for small, folding, lightweight, low profile hand trucks.

+1 on the rock and roller cart. Got mine and its perfect for lugging my two 90lbs peavey cabs around. Make sure you get inflatable wheels too so you can go through any terrain.

Bear-hugging it landed me in the ER with severe shoulder pain. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

I'm thinking the Magna Cart Ideal would be.. Ideal! Ha.

I got a folding cart at Big Lots for 20 bucks that does the trick for my Polytone MB III, even worked on a flight of stairs. Looks almost identical to the one linked at MF.

A plain ol' luggage cart will work just fine. That's what I use when I need to walk a cab any kind of distance.
