Ampeg SVT V9

I have the chance to buy my G*****ists' Mint condition
1975? SVT V9 (G*****r version of SVT, has reverb &
distortion, 2 channels, 2 inputs (no bright), 9 speakers in
ported cab)-
has anyone A/B 'd one w/ a vintage SVT rig?
I'm curious because I want to achieve the "Holy Grail" and
acquire a SVT before the prices get too crazy-
This thing is MINT w/ original tubes & matching cab for $2,300.00, which I know is a good deal, I just want to know
if this is close enough to the bass SVT, one the concerns
is the cabinet having ports & the speaker arrangement doesn't allow 4 separate chambers like the 8-10, it sounds
great but i want to know if this will push air like the bass
cab. (hello, Mr. Tiers, or anyone w/ info!)- Thanks much!

From what I remember about the 910, it is no good for bass speakers, very easy to push them too far and fart them out or ruin the cones.

Dont know how the head would sound for bass tho.

V9s usually go for less than SVTs. I hate to say it but IMO that is a high price. If the cab is a V9 too then it may not be the best for bass though it will certainly work. I paid $2100 for my SVT and Berg 610 though the head is not mint.

That said, the V9 is apparently a great substitute for an SVT in a similar way that the V4 is pretty much as good for bass as the V-4B. Same power amp, different preamp.
