Too many of today's so-called bands are using pre-recorded music and lip synching which shows little or no talent. The sad thing is that many of them are successful because the record label promotes the hell out of them and convinces teenagers that they must have the latest release. I miss the days when bands actualy played their instruments and performed live. I have always preferred live recordings to studio because it usually shows a bands true ability and the sound is generally more energetic. Most of today's bands don't live up to that standard. |

| | | | Well, we are getting old (I'm an ancient 29) but music will swing back to 'real music' after while. 'Real Music' being ANY style that's done with conviction, passion and elicits emotional response. Don't care if it's Country, Death Metal, Rap, Jazz, Bluegrass etc. Good music is good music and eventually the consumers (mostly non-musicians) will want to get that feeling back.
Think I'm lyin'?
Get busy with your ol' lady with R.Kelly in the background= C+
Get busy with your ol' lady with Marvin Gaye/Teddy/Frankie Beverly= A. With extra credit.
This provided nothing to the thread. Thanks

I see too many musicians who hang their basses and guitars down by their knees, limiting them to some rudimentary playing. Sure there are exceptions, but how a bassist holds their bass is the first clue to knowing if they are musicians or just hacks (let the flames begin)

I play my best when sitting, so keeping my bass at about that height when standing is optimal for me. I'm sure I'm not the only one. If your style of music does not require technical playing it might not make a difference, but for funk/jazz it would likely be difficult if not impossible to play with one's bass below the waist.

A local cat who plays in an R&B band plays his Roscoe 6 string below his waist. Dunno how he does it! Also, the cat who plays bass for Mint Condition, slings low. But he's not playing anything technically difficult! I play mine sorta high but my strap's adjustments limit where I really want it to sit.

So true !!!
And this; and she is also a beautiful woman..
And I think that was the first time I've heard anyone on any awards show like that give well deserved props to live musicians.

There were some very good vocalist that did the tributes to both her and Ron Isley and throughout the show as well. The last few years there have been a number of new vocalist that engage in vocal masterbation and was happy not to see very much of that on this show.
