Another GC runaround? 1 week wait becomes 8 weeks

I had some credit and a coupon at the local GC so I ordered a Warwick Corvette that is a normal stock item but it was out of stock. They said no problem, it'll be here in a week. I call back a month later. It'll be here in a week. I call 6 weeks later. It'll be here in a week. Now it's two months.

Does anyone know if there is any way that I can verify that it's coming at all? I haven't gotten huffy at all about it (yet) and my inquiries have been very matter-of-fact. So I'm looking for advice.

Perhaps you could ask them to have it shipped from another GC? There must be one in stock somewhere....

After much more polite but persistent prodding, it turns out that "the order was kicked back. It never went through."

Needless to say, I was frustrated and disappointed. I knew this would happen.

I don't get it. I've always had relatively good experience with Guitar Center, yet everyone else seems to hate the place.

Sometimes among the thousands and thousands of transactions GC does every day, something gets lost. Kudos to you for not completely flying off the handle and being understanding. Lots of GC customers would have, and NO ONE likes that guy.

Seriously, demand some serious compensation. I know, a "free bass" is out of the question, but they better make that right.

Dana B. Goods lied to me and blew me off for a while, in my brief experience with them. Finally delivered but only after repeated follow ups on my part.

...and this was just for some strap-lock pieces.
