| Any advice for a cheap monitor?

My band decided to go with the Shure E2 in-ear monitoring system a year ago and unfortunately(right!) I lost my set of earphones. I really haven't cared for the whole inear setup and would rather go back to using a regular monitor. We don't have separate power amps for monitors so I can't go with an unpowered hotspot monitor. The powered hotspots are a bit more than I'm willing to spend. Would a small, cheap guitar amp work well placed on top of my bass rig? If so, are there amp brand/model you would recommend? Thanks!
