ANY BASS PLAYERS THAT MAKE (hip hop) BEATS OR DJ ON HERE?

Sign in to disble this ad
Yeh, so I make beats as well as play bass, and I know 3 other bass players that are way into production. It's totally affected the way I play since I got more serious about production.

Me, I'm into that dusty boom bap sound, classic breaks, heavy on the samples, but I play a lot of keys on my beats to as well as the bass.

The beats I play the upright on fly out the door though.

anybody else on here into the beatmaking, cratedigging culture? DJing, beat juggling, any of that?

I'm probably gonna get ripped for saying I like to sample stuff, but whatever......people been sampling since 1961, so it's not going away ...lol

Count me in , I am a HIP HOP maniac.
No kidding, and I come come from a schooled jazz back round, wich might surprise some people that I love HIPHOP (one of my upright teachers actually laughed at me, wich really sux).
I have yet to buy my first MPC but I can't wait.
As for people judging you for that, F them.
I guess we are kind of rare, I can really play the bass & love hiphop.

^^ word up fam, gald to know I'm not alone!

I love it when people tell me that hip hop is not music, cause they are right, it's not, it's a way of life, and it's not for everybody

and anyways, Ron Carter was playing with Tribes, Donald Bryd, Ramsey Lewis and Lonnie Liston Smith got down with Guru on Jazzmatazz.......I could go on, but anyways, cool

MPC's are dope - going to get one someday - but as a musician, I love Reason, cause you can sample, drop in your bass lines (through rewire) and the soft synths are no joke -

seratto is pretty cool - my crew, we do this thing where I make a break with some real basic key hits on it, but it's mostly just drums - then I give the DJ a bunch of sounds that are in whatever key it's in, and then live, I play the bass over the break while he scratches in the sounds I gave him and it's all in key - I'm waiting on some video footage of the last time we flipped it like that, I'll post it when I get it back, but people bug out over it, it has it's own sound
