Every few months I have a lucid dream where I can play almost anything I can think of. All the technical limitations disappear and I can easily hit any note I go for. It's a "better than sex dream" dream (for me at least).
Just curious if this is a common theme with anyone else.

Was really sick with the flu and a tooth abscess, on a lot of meds, and had a dream in which a huge band asked me to fill in for their bass player who mysteriously didn't show.....and I had to learn all of the sounds by ear in 5 minutes.
Talk about an anxiety nightmare. |

I was in a strange mood the rest of the day |

Kind of a dream/nightmare thing.

Bad: Once I dreamt that I was playing with Aerosmith ( I was sick and I had watched an Aerosmith concert on TV) and I started playing horribly on Walk this Way.
Good: I had a dream that my friends (who are all musicians, but not in the same band) and I were at an outdoor stadium/arena full of people, and we sounded just like Metallica (old Metallica to make it even better).

Other dreams that drive me crazy are dreams of acquiring a carton of cigarettes, then waking up really wanting a smoke and not having any or having any means to get one,
Or a weird dream where I'm like Tony Montana with mountains of the white stuff and supermodels and a gorgeous mansion in the jungle, very very vivid, but everytime I bend over to take that first big glorious "sniff" of said "white stuff," I wake up dazed and confused.... very very strange recurring dream.*note* drugs are bad, mmmmmkay?

The band was Type O Negative and I was asked to learn all their stuff in the 1 hour before we got up on stage Weirdly, Peter Steele was also in the band, just not playing bass

Just curious if this is a common theme with anyone else. | My recurring dream is that I'm on stage and we're all set up to play, except that my rig won't make a sound. Everyone else's is working and they are all like, "C'mon, man! It's time to start!" I'm swapping cables, checking batteries and fuses, cussing... all to no avail. And then I wake up all pissed off.
It's happened a couple of times in real life as well. |

| | | | I once had a dream where I was playing a saxophone fantastically well. I "understood" everything I was doing, even though I've never even touched one in real life.
I've also had a recurring "bass anxiety" dream where I'm supposed to make it to a big gig with a band I really did play with, years ago. I have about 5 minutes before the show starts and I'm still at home, physically struggling to get dressed. (My socks are just about big enough for a two-year-old, etc.) |

Although my most-often recurring annoying dream (not really a nightmare) is just that I'm playing Born To Be Wild with a mundane cover band in a biker bar somewhere in western Wisconsin. And then I wake up and feel depressed because that's my real life, too.
But I can play Born To Be Wild perfectly in my sleep AND in real life!!!
