Any guitar players out there?

Never been much of a guitar player, but have recently really wanted to start playing some acoustic guitar. Looking in the 3-500 range and found this bad boy:

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Yamaha-F...stomer-reviews

Anyone familiar with her? I did a search for the model # but pulled nothing up.
I've never owned a Yamaha instrument (besides a $50 guitar starter pack when I was 12) but have heard great things about them.

There are plenty of good acoustic guitars in that price range. But much like basses in the same price range, there are some dogs so you have to play bunch and just go with what feels best to you.

I agree - acoustics, at least massed produced ones, have become like wine. Price tag doesn't mean much - you can find a great cheap ones and a crappy expensive ones. Go PLAY!

fwiw I have a yamaha acoustic and it aint sexy, but it has stood up to a big beating over the years and I've written more songs on it than I can count!

Just linking it from their site. Plenty of other sites have it in stock, as well as my local GC. Although, it says all three colors are in stock for me.

I completely agree with you guys about going out and playing. I stopped by GC today for a few on the way home from school, and I really did enjoy everything about the Yamaha, just was curious for some TB feedback.

Sorry to make another, "WHICH PICK GUARD IS BEST FOR METAL?!!?" thread.

ive played a couple yamahas that didnt sound half bad. didnt sound like MINE, which was custom made , but they dont sound bad. if you like a model, play every one they have in the store. quality control can be an issue.

In that price range there is not a lot of tweaking after it gets to the end of the production line, i.e. what you see is what you get. Try it out see how it fits you and do you like the sound.

I've a Yamaha bass and keyboard, both do what I ask of them. I learned rhythm guitar on a borrowed Gibson bought an Alvarez and really like the Alvarez better. There is probably $1,000 difference between the two.

Play it first.

Play everything in your price range that you can get your hands on. If you can ignore the headstocks (and for that matter body shapes, styles, and colors), you may surprise yourself regarding what sounds and plays the best. Yamaha is a famous name, but they may not make the best acoustic for you.

I had a $70 pawn shop nylon string guitar that sounded beautiful! I also had a steel string Takamine (low end- $150ish) that sounded horrible (to me) when I put new strings on it. It sounded awesome once they wore in a little though.

I play allot of guitar and write songs. I have two older 80's Epiphones that I really like. They have slimmer wider necks like Gibsons and I need that. The newer Epiphones are affordable and not bad at all. GC has them too.
