Any J-Rock Fans?

Sign in to disble this ad
I am enjoying the new Girugamesh CD "Music" .

I think they are my favorite J Rock band right now along with
D'espairsRay. I also like Maximum The Hormone.

I tried Dir En Grey, but did not care for them as much.

I also like some of L'Arc en Ciel, but some of their stuff comes off too romantic/ ballad, not rocking enough. Great bass player & singer though.

Anyone have any other favorites to add or any one else a fan?

i was introduced to Malice Mizer some years ago by a friend. have all their music, still listen to it sometimes. i like some of gackt's solo acoustic stuff, other than that its too mainstream. the only L'Arc album i have is Smile, which is good, but i know the band has gone through a lot of stylistic changes (and not in the right direction). basically i used to be really into this stuff, now its just kind of an oddity.

oh and youtube Dir en Grey's "Obscure." fav music video.

I saw Dir En Grey in concert. They were decent, not really my thing.

That said, I love Boris and The Boredoms.

I dig Gackt/Malice Mizer, X Japan, and what I've heard of Maximum The Hormone, I want to dig in deeper to the style.

Bleach03, they do everything from metal to thrash/funk. And their bassist is INSANE. And they're all girls.

In terms of straight ahead rock, The Emeralds.

Oh ish! I forgot about Bleach03. They're my number one "I'm going to pick some of their stuff up and never do" list. They rip. They Seriously Rip.

There's also this doom band from Japan called Corrupted, they're fantastic.

Checking the bands out I can find. Plastic Tree is pretty cool. Some great guitar work.

Salva has a great bass player.

Since I tunes is sparse on J rock it's hard to find them all.

Threads like this & the Post Rock threads are one of the things that make Talkbass great for me.
