Nah, nobody likes that stuff

Rush?

Pfft, who on a bass player forum would be into a band fronted by Geddy Lee

I like all the bands you mentioned. Three of them have had pretty strong albums over the past year or two (DT's last was weak compared to their other material).

What the hell kind of question is that? On any forum full over 100K+ people, of course you're going to find a fan of any genre.

(huge fan of all the bands mentioned thus far)

I'm just getting into Opeth now. I dig Dream Theater and Symphony X. There is a really cool band that broke up a couple years ago from the U.K. called Sikth that was really sweet. Protest The Hero is my favorite band though <3<3

Damnation, Morningrise and Orchid are my favorite three albums from Opeth.

Sure. I pretty much discovered prog. rock with Dream Theater. That's part of the reason why I play bass.

It's kinda funny. I absolutely love prog rock, but I absolutely hate the most widely recognized paradigm of prog: Dream Theater.

Can't stand em. Singer bugs the hell outta me, and I just don't think any of the songs are written very well.

So far, the only jazz fusion that has been mentioned was Hiromi (who frickin' rocks out, by the way), everything else is prog.

There is some jazz fusion out there right now that is great. Hiromi, Hadrien Feraud, always Herbie Hancock, Tony Grey, Lee Ritenour.

My band has started to do some home-brew jazz fusion-type music. Listen to Second of Six on our myspace page.
