anybody teach/learn instruments of other members?

Not many members could make a practice today, so me and my drummer took a couple hours to teach other our instruments. I'm getting fairly good with snare rolls and rudiments, and once he gets his technique down, he'll have amazing time... hoping we can one day be the rhythm bros and swap off to jam a little. Also, I think it helps us understand the other instrument better. It's certainly easier to communicate when i'm asking him to play something now.

Anybody do anything similar? Was it successful?
