Anybody tried a strap pad and do they work?

Sign in to disble this ad
Feeling my age at last, and the pain of the rainbow ernie ball strap has begun (and I'm only 32 and been using an Ernie ball strap for the last 20 years). Do these strap pads work in reducing aching shoulders and backs?

http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/produ...bass_strap_pad

Or am I going to have to bite the bullet and get a full on neoprene strap, and never be rainbowed up again?

Anyone else tried the cheap option? Opinions please?

I have one of these: http://legacystraps.com/ultg.htm

I even emailed Legacy and for no extra cost they built it to my size specs (I like to wear my bass high).

One of those nice wooly sheepskin seatbelt pads at the auto parts store is a cheap/easy fix.

My wife sewed a pad in place on my strap so that it does not slip. I don't have to worry about adjusting it so it is always on my shoulder

Sliding around, marvellous, just what i thought, useless.

And in my defence, feeling my age at 32, is probably cos of those 5 years I spent as a postie with them heavy bags on my back every morning. That and liking the sound of my boat-anchor P-bass too much.

I just use those wide, padded Levys straps. The whole thing is padded so they don't move.

Plus they look great.

I recently became a fan of moody straps. I'm 39 and the straps are plenty comfortable for me. I play a Spector NS-2; it's kinda heavy.
