| | | | Anyone for an acoustic tour/album from Rush?
Several months ago (after getting my acoustic bass), I wondered what it would be like if Rush did an unplugged project with Geddy Lee on acoustic bass and piano, Alex Lifeson solely on acoustic guitar and Neil Peart adding some bongos and congas to his drum kit.
Who is intrigued by the idea of Rush going on an acoustic mini-tour and releasing a live album from this tour?

They are a power trio with a big sound. I have heard Geddy and Alex do a couple acoustic songs on tour after Neil's drum solo to give him a break. They sounded great but I just can't imagine I would like an entire set or album's worth of acoustic material from them.

| | | | Well they did an acoustic cover of "Resist" a couple of times, notably on their Rio tour.
I personally thought it was a lot better than the studio version. Definitely felt more heart-wrenching and more lively.

For that matter, I wish he'd go back to the Ric, EQ the mids back in, and reduce the bottom end. Neil does plenty without the electronics. Alex does play the heck out of his acoustic/classical guitars! But their sound, in my opinion, needs the distortions and mini Moog.

but an entire album?? Sure I'd like to hear that but maybe not a whole tour devoted to that, maybe a small part of the show or a few seperate songs here and there.
Rush is a very high energy band live and I honestly dont think it's in the cards for them to do an entire acoustic show.

Thy thought it was a gimmick. If they did an unplugged album, I would feel like they were just bing dishonest to the fan base.
I would still buy the disc though....LOL |
