So my stepson got an electronic drum set for christmas and i found myself really intrigued.i sat down on it and tried to do some basic beats and realized how fun yet challenging it is to play the drums.
i was thinking how just by learning to be even a rudimentary drummer would do wonders for my understanding of rhythm and do wonders for my timing. So i think i'm going to devote some of my practice schedule to learning some drumming basics.anyone else here also play the drums? |

my right hand is always locked on the bass drum, for better or worse.

Just learn the basics and have fun

I'm currently drumming in one, soon to be two, bands; my Ric hasn't been getting enough attention lately |

There are better ways of improving those aspects of your playing without drums. Play because you want to play.

Not because it helps my bass playing, but because I love it.

| | | | I got a beginner drum set for Christmas. I'm no Bonham or anything (wouldn't expect myself to be) but I was surprised how fast I picked it up. Its definitely fun. I love playing bass and laying down a groove but no instrument I've played gets your adrenaline going like drums. |

My son does too...what's fun is I just did a little jam with him last night matter of fact, and tho he's 5, and cannot reach the kick, it was fun to "bond" like that. Funny, I started off on guitar, gravitated to bass, then started on drums...some would call it "regressing", I call it evolving.

All bassists should know how to play drums. |

but bass has had alot more attention lately and it's fair to say that over the past year ive lost alot of my chops... but ive started a practice sched again so hopefully by mid year i'll be up to my former glory.
i also teach drums as my main source of income. (i teach bass for free hair cuts!) | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
