Anyone done something silly like this?

I used to suck at picking out basslines in songs so one night I decided to try and copy something I heard everyday. I decided to copy the sound of my dogs getting excited when my mom came home from work. I got the sound of my one dog down well, but then forgot about it.

The other night my husky injured herself. She is of course the dog I haven't figured out the part for, and is old and probably won't be around much longer. I figured something out for her and I wrote it down. It's the first piece of music I've ever written down, it's so exciting yet bitter sweet since she won't ever sound like that again.

That's very creative! I can see all the hippies really enjoying the idea of finding music in everyday life or some cheesy stuff like that

I've got to hand it to you, that's a fantastic way to tribute a pet.

And I have tried to mimic the rythyms and tones of human conversations on my bass. There's a fantastic exchange like that on one of Charles Mingus's live albums between him and one of his horn players, but I can't seem to remember where I found it right now.

i think i read (in the 80's, scuze my hazy smoke filled brain if i get this wrong) that steve vai recorded a cat in heat being ...... satiated. he then tried to imitate the sounds with his guitar, and taught himself some new tricks and techniques in the process.
