Anyone else get all lemons from the musiciansfriend used sale?

I got an acoustic b200h condition 1 that came in a box barely hanging together, the only function the amp has was the ability to clip at any volume level.

Called them and they said that they cant give me a new one at the price i paid, sure I dont care I bought it with no real intention for it so i sent it back.

I got a spector rex brown , I was playing it and really loving the bass, touched one of the pots and got this huge distorted sound and now it wont go away.

I have not called them for fear they will say " cantr replace it at the price you paid" at which point I would get a little mad because I paid for a working bass.

I have been along time customer and these back 2 back lemons and lack for for customer service is really making me want to just stick t classifieds here, anytime MF has a good deal it ends up a headache it seems.

Just ordered a mic and a recording interface earlier this week, I'll keep my fingers crossed for sure.

Hit and Miss

I've purchased a number of "restock", "close out", "refurb" stuff from MF. I've found some stuff near perfect and without issues but other stuff (and more so lately) absolutely horrendous.

Case 1: My Ampeg BA-600 (1x15). It was "returned" and I got it at great price. It showed up in a box that was pretty beat up but still functional. Unfortunately, the amp WASN'T functional. I returned it and got a new BA-300 which has been a nice amp.

Case 2: I ordered a returned Crate power amp. It was in a box that was literally held together with duct tape. Yup! 1001 uses including shipping audio equipment. I slit the tape to open the box and realized the tape was essentially the box. The box was completely torn and deteriorated. The surrounding packing foam for the amp was completely compressed and crumbling.

Now to the amp: The frame was bent and screws were loose. The rack ears (tabs) were bent to the point you couldn't rack the amp. It was like someone tried to "dog ear" a page in a book. One of the amp handles was loose and the other was completely off. They did include the bolts for it but those were roaming around the box.

I've become very careful about purchasing used/refurb items from the (though I still do). But I've noticed now they have a used rating system on their website when they never did. I do go by that and it's been pretty accurate. Maybe too many returns and complaints caused the creation of the new rating system.

Doesn't sound like an issue a soldering iron, little bit of wire and maybe a replacement pot won't fix. I wouldn't even bother complaining about it if the price was good but rather just fix it myself. Just my 2 cents.

I've had a similar problem buying NEW. This was from Dolphin Music though, Not Musician's Friend. I bought my Laney 410 cab and it came with a broken speaker. Took them about a month and half to get a replacement to me. Though to my amazement, they still haven't picked up the broken one. Not long left now til I can legally declare it my own. £60 to replace the speaker, then sell it on for £300 "used but perfect condition". I paid £440 for it, so someone will get a good deal on a new cab.

Well its more like Musicians Enemy to me now. I called and got some punk named casey that was probably the rudest customer rep I have dealt with . He said sonce I bought a used one I have to pay the difference on a new one, I honestly think thats a load of crap.

2 broken items in 2 days , I wont be buying from them again.

Well some positive news.

I sent the head back for a cash refund and I posted the spector local on craigs and explained the problem and the fact I only wanted what I paid for it 360$ which is a pretty good price. It sold quickly , its probably something minor I just was fed up with it.

Then a TB'er mailed me saying he woul fix the problem or at least try. The bass was gone and I kinda wish it would have got exchanged but oh well. The Tb'er fixed my order and in stead of getting my 89.99$ back all be getting the head exchanged for a new one, the head is 249.99$ acoustic B200h new.

So some positive events. I gotta give hats of to tb'er "mfjustin" . I guess the first 2 times I called I just got some rude customer service reps.

Well, I had ordered a Tascam 1641 and a Sennheiser mic, and not only did they ship super fast, they both appear to be in A+ condition as well.
