Is anyone else playing with Animoog today?

Just picked this up last night and haven't been able to put it down since. Pretty sweet synth app...especially for a buck!

Animoog | Moog Music Inc

P.S. I'm not affiliated with Moog in any way (other than being a huge fan). I just figured my fellow TB'ers would enjoy it.

Yes. Being a huge fan of moog gear, I jumped at the price decrease. It's going to be something like 30 bucks at the end of the month. I downloaded it but haven't messed with it yet. Looking forward to see if I can use it with Ableton Live.

HOLY CRAP this thing is amazing. So many options. Even just messing with the defaults. I love how you can set up the key of your synth so it only gives you keys that fit within a certain type of scale. What a great little device. I haven't gotten good enough to record anything with it yet, but I'm working on it. I can't believe they let this thing go for 99 cents. What a steal!

Listen guys, I'm not associated with Moog in anyway, other than being a huge fan of my moogerfooger. This thing is on sale until the end of the month for 99 cents. If you have an iPad and have ever even remotely thought about dabbling in a synth, this thing is pretty sweet.

For sure...This is a must have app (even if it isn't on sale). I lost a lot of sleep last night after I discovered how it hooks up to my Voyager via midi. Using a physical keyboard controller for this app is where it's at!

I should also mention that Moog's other app Filtatron is also on sale for $.99 right now. Basically a Moogerfooger for your iPad/iPhone.

OOOOH. Being that I have a real MoogerFooger, I will use this.

It looks fun but unfortunately i dont have an ipad and wont be getting one. I would rather get a cluster flux anyway. The filtatron is cool too. Running it into my old school mini gets very interesting. The animoog would be even better im sure. Moog stuff is top notch!

Taurus sound

Yeah, I'm digging it. I feel like I found a pretty passable Taurus sound that will be great to have around when I don't have a full rig with me and want to lay down some fat whole notes.

I put a quick demo up on youtube, putting the Animoog next to a Little Phatty, and a VST minimoog.

Animoog Taurus Bass, compared to Moog Little Phatty and Arturia Minimoog V

Amazing little app! After band practice last night we sat around playing with it for about an hour. It has tons of features that are really easy to use. In case anyone hasn't figured this out yet (it took me about 30 minutes of messing around for me to find this out), if you slide your finger around on a key, it will change the sound. This thing is rad! Now I have to check out the other app that's on sale right now.

Animoog is a really great soft synth app. I have plenty of other synth apps on the iPhone/iPad but this one combines such beautiful tones with a much more creative touch keyboard and X/Y pads that I have been completely absorbed by the experience. I love it.

I also have the Filtatron MoogerFooger which is the cleanest and most fun soft pedal I've heard yet.

And they"re only a buck until te end of the month!

Could you share your settings on how you got the Taurus sound?

Problem is, I can't wrestle the damn thing from my six year old daughter to have a proper play. She prefers Animoog to Angry Birds at the moment

Much better than angry birds. Tell her that you need to install Halloween synth sounds so she can make spooky music.

She's gone to bed. Update done.

Currently creating a sci-fi space-pron soundtrack.

Someone in my band whipped out his iPad and played Animoog on one number last week, freaked out the audience and the rest of the band! (Especially because he's not the keyboard player.)

Very cool.

Sure thing! Here are the instructions from the video comments:

To program the sound, this is what I found:
1. Build off of a static saw Timbre. "StaticFatSaw1" is good. Putting a "Sine" wave, or "OctaveSaw" in the Timbre slot next to it gives some good variation moving around on the X/Y pad.

2. The key for me to getting the vibe in the right ballpark was forcing the synth to output a mono audio signal, and using the "Detune" control to separate the saw into two separate octaves. This can be accomplished in two ways I've found:
-(preferable) "Unison" set to "4", "Detune" set to approximately "8", and ONLY use the Left audio output from the iPad(I used the "tip" side only of a stereo 1/8" TRS to dual mono 1/4" TS cable, coming out of the headphone jack)
- "Unison" set to "2", and "Detune" very slightly under "10". This'll sound alright coming out of the iPad speaker, but is less flexible, and would be difficult to perform with.

3. all Orbit, Path, Delay settings to "0"

4. approx. fiter settings: Drive "10", Env. "0", Freq "5.3", Res. "1" - maxing out the filter "Drive" seemed to be a key to getting the right amount of "spit" in the sound with the filter wide open.

5. approx. Thick settings: Crush "0", Drive "2.5"

6. I zeroed out all Mods, except for one, that makes the poly-pressure open up the filter freq:
- Source off, amount "0"
- Control poly-pressure, amount "+33"
- Destination: filter-freq

7. Setting the KB scale to "Chromatic" with "Mono" and "Legato" makes the on screen keyboard act as I would expect. "Cor" at "10", "Glide" around 45%.

All three Synths recorded straight into Steinberg MR816csx. Levels adjusted slightly, no additional post processing.
