Write angsty music about your life when you really don't have much on others? It seems like every major metal band has members that have had the **** kicked out of them and thats almost like a requirement.

After playing the blues for more than 40 years, I'm still undecided about whether you must have suffered to sing them well or not.

I'm certain, however, that you don't really need to have electrodes juiced and pinching on your testicles to thrash and holler as if you do.

Know your audience. I mean, come on, Limp Bizkit still made money after the only member with a lick of creativity in them left, all because Fred Durst knew what words would sell to 14 year old boys.
