Anyone go to great lengths to see a show?

Anybody else going to the final shows for NIN? My wife and I just bought tickets for the two shows in Chicago next month at the Aragon! I'm excited for a trip out of town (we live in Tampa) to see a couple of great shows! I saw them play at the Tabernacle in Atlanta a few years ago. Just a theater, and getting tickets was a pain in the a**. The great part was the energy in the venue. Getting tickets was difficult (and expensive) so everyone that was there REALLY wanted to be there. No one talked during quiet parts, and I swear every person knew every word to every song, and sang along. Worth the drive and every penny spent. Trent claims he's done touring after this, but does anyone ever really quit for good? I doubt it. I hope he'll change his mind at some point...

Just wanted to see if anyone else has gone to great lengths to see a show.

I saw many Dead shows in the late 80's. Need I say more?

My friend was invited to see Tool at one of their upcoming shows and to meet them backstage based on her piano/vocal covers on YouTube

Since they are not playing Vancouver, she is flying to Toronto. Definately a bit of cost but very much worth it for her.

Same here. I always used to run into a guy I knew from my hometown too. We didn't go to the shows together, we'd just kind of turn a corner and there he'd be! It was freaky considering the sheer number of people at a given show.

Heh. I took a newbie to the Dead to the Watkins Glen show, which purportedly had 600,000 attendees. After an epic all-nighter of hitchhiking there from Toronto we arrived at around 6:30 AM the day of the show. We had to walk the last 3-4 miles or so, since no one could park any nearer the track by then. I told my friend I was gonna go hook up with my brother "over near that end of the track", which was the only arrangement we'd made. And what do you know, but here comes my bro walking the other way just as we arrive there, aftre walking another mile or so. My friend couldn't believe it, but after you've done this enough times it seems pretty normal, eh?

I can't really post any of my best stories on this topic here on TB, but maybe that's for the best anyway.

I drove from Detroit to Denver to see Tom Petty and Pearl Jam play together. Totally worth it. Have fun at NIN!

Not as long as some of your trips, but I regularly (2-3 times a year) travel from where I live to Montreal (which is about 8.5 hours away) to see live shows.

we couldent tell from your avatar

ive gone to bridgeport conneticuit, and 4+ hours upstate (from long island NY) and a couple of other areas in conneticuit/NJ.

luckily living right near NYC its rare for there to be a tour i completely miss out on.

although i do intend to take trips to new orleans, and oaklahoma, 90% of the purpose being to see specific shows.
