Someone should ask him if the wall is included in the auction.

That's interesting.... he bought a 1957 original Strat pickup and a vintage Fender tremelo cover within the last week.... I wonder if those are partscasters....

I think $40,000 a piece is a bit much myself, but I guess it's those damn collectors who don't even play. I'd tend to think that he could make quite a bit more if he would sell them individually, assuming they were the real deal.

Yeah, then the seller scolds him for his "awful feedback."

hard to say.. I've seen a 59 Stat in good condition (which his seem to be) get $145,000; it's all about supply=demand...

I for one don't think (instrumentally) they're not worth it, but from a collection standpoint, and a ownership of history.. it's nice, if you've got the spare dough.

David Gilmour has serial #0001 Strat.. I wonder what that's worth?

Not to mention that selling them individually would increase the possibility of selling them to individual collectors instead of trying to find one person that is willing to buy the whole lot.

yeah i think SamJ is on to something. if those are really vintage guitars, and they are in good condition, i don't see why a cashed up collector would scoff at such an auction. its probably a collector's dream if such a thing were true.

Also, the seller invites the potential buyers to visit him/her and to check out the collection. while i wouldn't bid such a large sum on ebay even if i had the money, i would try to track this guy down for more serious talks.

Sounds to me like that guy has his fingers crossed hoping that someone wants to give him a very long vacation from work.

Fender did not number their instrument in consecutive order. Therefore, this isn't the first strat. You might get a premium for having the lowest number, but not for the first guitar. BTW, I believe it is a tele/broadcaster with plate #1.

Also, there are lots of protos that are pre-serial fenders.
