ok, so i'm being KINDA hypothetical here... how would you as a performing artist deal with something similar to this. i'm curious.... so if a bandmember had some law issues (no biggie as far as law, just mellow, nothing controlled or serious time or nothing..), and you were "on the right track" getting the album done, waiting for responses back from labels, and the member encountered some major problems or something. However we had only minimal hours to finish the album (so freakin close!!!!) and the money was yanked when said hypothetical member had law problems. say you had to sell the van and trailer to cover the album, would you do it? if you were literally just a few tunes away from being picked up by a label would you chance it or move on??? say the band has been around 6-7 years and has lots of intirest. would you bank on said member or go to your own devices? i'm dealing with some garbage obviously and i'm really bummed that we are KNOCKING ON THE DOOR. any advice? we consistently sell out shows and have lots of intirest, so i'm ready to put SOME stuff behind me and not dwell. would you do the same?

thx
G

i would finish the album, and i would also fire the band member...if 3-4 other guys are so close to achieving their musical dream/goal, why let one jerk screw it up for the rest of you?

is there any way to get his/her name off the music?

that would severely improve your situation

Yes I would chance it and move on if I knew for sure we'd get on a label.

If the thing is that close to being done, there should be enough there for a lable to make a decision on way or another.

I personally wouldn't sell squat especially my wheels or anything else that relates to me earning money right now.

thats true enough, but if they have a cd that can be sold, and a label signs them, they can get distributors to put them all over...or even get it on cdbaby.com before a label signs them, and if they sell enough cds, they can buy a new van
