Anyone know any hand exercises to do without the bass?

I did a search but all I could find is exercises with the bass. Due to medical problems I can't always play the bass so I was really after some exercises for the hands, or even the arm and shoulder just to help my my bass playing for when I am able to play. I'm also going to be away from my bass for 3 weeks so it would be nice to have some exercises to do.

So it's not all one sided, here's an exercise I picked up from a Stu Hamm video (Slap, pop, tap one):

Clench your finger in a fist (left hand)
Lift your index and ring finger as far as they can go
Close your fist again
Then lift your middle and little finger as far as they can go
Close again

Repeat that and it may be hard at first but it gets easier and it does help. My ring finger feels a lot more independant now.

So does anyone else have any?
