Anyone know anything about banjos?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have 2 old banjos (late 1800s/early 1900s) that I would love to have more info on. One has a name on it (it escapes me now), but the other one has no ID marking what so ever. Only thing I've found was a metal piece on the bracing that says "PAT PEND".

I can take pics if anyone can find anything out.

Pictures would help. Look on the inside square rail (under the banjo head). Some common names were S.S. Stewart, Vega, Bacon, and a few others. Are they Tenor banjos (4 string)?

Ok, took some quick pics.
I've been looking that thing up and down for years, there's nothing to be found.

First one says "Beau Brummel" on the headstock. I've run across this on other banjos, but never seen one like this one. Obviously, it's not in working order.

Second one is the mystery. Again, it's not in playing shape, but it wouldn't take much.

And the piece that says "PAT PEND."
