Anyone know what this guitar effect used in a lot of King Crimson and Primus songs...

...is called? I used to think this was what you describe as the "Leslie sound", but apparently it isn't.

Aside from Mr. Fripp and Mr. Belew during KC's New Wave phase, it's also used by Ler all over the Pork Soda disc, including Mr. Krinkle. I thought it would be a cool idea to use it for a tiny bass intro that'll end up on the demo record my band is currently working on but I guess if I want to use it I first need to figure out what it's called. Does anyone know? Lots of thanks in advance.

I think its a phaser or chorus + distortion
