Im feeling like practicing some slapping (thumb mostly), but dont feel like funk right now, so can anyone recomend some songs that contain slap within metal?
Also, id rather it not be Nu-metal,Industrial or metalcore or that stuff. Im more thinking Death Metal,Thrash, Heavy Metal. You know, real metal
Thanks.

The tunes on that CD were pretty heavy and Doug Wimbish laid down some mighty plank spankin bass lines IIRC. |

Exhorder - The Law (the album Pantera stole all their ideas from!)
Anything by Mudvayne (do they class as real metal? )
Some tunes by Opeth (the title track off Blackwater Park has a cool slap part near the end from the great Martin Mendez)
Robert Trujillo-era Suicidal Tendencies (Rob's thumb is all over this stuff) |

| I was going to recommend the same album...glad I read the previous posts first! If you want to hear slapping/tapping on a quasi-metal album, that's the one. I saw Living Colour when they went out in support of this tour. Stood right in front of Doug Wimbish in the front row at the American Theater in St. Louis and that show was one of those life-changing "lightbulb" experiences for me. Whew! |

Even though mudvayne and Stain has some good bass i really dont enjoy the rest of the music, so it feels draggy to learn songs from them.

As for song examples, check out Slit Your Guts and Benedictine Convulsions off of None So Vile and Equilvalent Equilibrium off of And Then You'll Beg.
Other than that, check out the Atheist song Brains from Unquestionable Pressence
